Glenfiddich 28 Goes Global as Chattanooga's Confluence Lands and Oxford Whisky Plans Return

9 min read

WHISKY CLAN GLOBAL NEWS | Thursday 5 November 2026 | Reporting cutoff approximately 08:20 GMT | By the Whisky Clan editorial team

A 28-year-old Speyside whisky developed with Aston Martin is heading to US and airport shelves, while Tennessee drinkers have a rare opportunity to compare twelve cask-strength wheat whiskeys from the same project. In England, one of Oxford's most intriguing grain-to-glass ventures has outlined its return. A new India-inspired Blue Label blend and two changes in Kentucky's bourbon market show how strongly makers are betting on exclusivity, local experience and storytelling.

The fresh reporting below is rooted principally in announcements issued on Wednesday 4 November, with one Diageo release announced on Tuesday 3 November and an event unveiling originally held on 30 October. A November 2026 launch date is not the same as an announcement date. Listings are not proof that every retailer has stock.

Glenfiddich and Aston Martin reveal a 28-year-old whisky for January 2027

Announced 4 November 2026 | First planned retail availability: January 2027 | Scotland, United States and global travel retail

Glenfiddich and Aston Martin have revealed their latest luxury collaboration, a 28-year-old Speyside single malt built around two kinds of American-oak influence and Oloroso sherry-seasoned European hogsheads. The whisky includes spirit initially matured in American oak before a further period in virgin American oak, alongside traditional ex-bourbon and sherry-cask components. The planned result is a higher-oak, layered interpretation of the distillery's familiar orchard-fruit character.

The expression is bottled at 43.7% ABV, with US press reporting a suggested retail price of $899. It is due from January 2027 in the United States and selected international airport shops; a worldwide high-street release is not confirmed. Neither partner has disclosed a total bottle count, so 'limited edition' should not be taken as evidence of a specific allocation.

Why it matters: the partnership is moving from branded packaging towards a more detailed cask programme. Buyers paying this price are acquiring a particular matured whisky, not just a car-themed collector's box. Availability is four to eight weeks away, not an instant 5 November shop launch.

Chattanooga and New Riff's Confluence Volume 2 starts its rolling sale today

Company news circulated 4 November | First Chattanooga barrels scheduled on sale Thursday 5 November 2026 | Tennessee, US

The Confluence Project: Volume 2 is a particularly transparent American whiskey experiment. Chattanooga Whiskey and Kentucky's New Riff began with a shared grain recipe, then applied their own production methods. This year's Chattanooga bottles retain the same distillation runs as last year's Volume 1, but now have seven years and six months of maturation. The 12 single barrels give drinkers twelve variations rather than a single uniform blend.

The mash bill is unusually specific: 60% Red Turkey wheat, 24% Appalachian malted wheat, 8% dark malted wheat and 8% caramel malted wheat. Maturation varies across toasted and charred casks and 110, 115 or 120 proof at barrel entry. All releases are unfiltered and bottled at cask strength, which means a single ABV cannot responsibly be assigned to all 12 barrels.

Chattanooga's first bottles are scheduled for sale at its Experimental Distillery today, 5 November, at $69.99 per 750ml. The distillery plans to introduce the remaining barrels sequentially as earlier ones sell. New Riff takes a different route, selling its part of Volume 2 as a mix pack. The first sale date is a schedule, not confirmation of stock or successful transactions at the morning reporting cutoff.

The Oxford Artisan Distillery lays out its return to Cheney Farm

Leadership confirmation reported 4 November | Planned restart June 2027 | Headington, Oxford, England

The Oxford Artisan Distillery, commonly called TOAD, has named a leadership team for a proposed return to its former home at Cheney Farm. The venture ceased trading in 2024, but Oxford Spirit Group says it has secured the site lease and recovered the distillery's stills. The return is framed as more than a tasting-room reopening: the plans include new production infrastructure, environmental improvements and public visitor facilities.

Founder Tom Nicolson is leading the return. Don Woodward, formerly associated with Ardgowan Distillery, is chairman and chief financial officer; Gareth Roberts has been appointed to lead energy-efficient distillery design, alongside operations director Gordon Nelson, finance director Stuart Crook and non-executive director Mark Beer OBE. The distillery's distinctive Nautilus and Nemo stills are part of the revival story.

June 2027 is the operator's intended reopening window, not an opening date that has already occurred. A formal on-sale whisky date, bottle details and visitor ticket prices have not been announced in the sources checked. This is significant because restoring a closed artisan producer can be more difficult than launching a new brand: equipment, site permissions and credible long-term operations all need to come together.

Our Oxford Artisan Distillery and Fielden history guide explains the complicated transition from the original rye whisky venture to its subsequent brand and distilling arrangements.

Johnnie Walker brings Indian festive flavours into Blue Label

Official announcement 3 November | India unveiling event was 30 October | Distribution planned for India, UK, US and global duty free

Diageo has presented Johnnie Walker Blue Label Indian Festive Blend, a limited-edition Scotch intended to evoke Indian culinary aromas without turning the whisky itself into an Indian-distilled spirit. Master blender Dr Emma Walker describes flavour references including cardamom, saffron, rosewater, citrus, honey and a light trace of smoke. The multinational release is an India-inspired expression of Scotch whisky, not Indian single malt.

The distinction in dates matters: the official company statement appeared on 3 November, but Diageo says the expression was unveiled at a Mumbai event on 30 October. It is therefore a recently formalised global launch announcement rather than a new 5 November debut. The cited Diageo material does not provide a confirmed global retail price or a reliable total bottle count, so neither is asserted.

A flavour-led luxury Scotch launch in several territories illustrates the industry's interest in the large Indian whisky audience. It also shows how multinational drinks groups are using cultural collaboration and limited editions to widen their reach beyond their traditional markets.

Kentucky bourbon: 15 STARS opens its single barrels and ROW 94 moves into Nashville

15 STARS gives retailers and groups a path to private First West barrels

Brand announcement issued 4 November 2026 | Programme rollout planned through selected private-barrel partners

Bardstown-based 15 STARS has announced a private single-barrel selection programme under its First West label. It begins with six- to ten-year-old Kentucky bourbons that brand partners can taste and select individually. The whiskies are bottled at cask strength with limited filtration, allowing the natural differences between barrels to remain apparent.

The programme spans various mash bills, including rye- and wheat-accented expressions, and 15 STARS says its heirloom-corn distilling will contribute to the pool. Its differentiator is access: these are designed for retailers, hospitality buyers and groups arranging exclusive cask selections, not a simultaneous nationwide shelf release. The company has not published one universal bottle ABV or a retail price in its announcement.

ROW 94's Opry-finished Trespasser's Proof is still ageing, not on sale

News release 4 November; unveiling associated with 3 November event | Nashville tasting room scheduled to open 5 November | Bourbon due early 2027

Country musician Dierks Bentley's ROW 94 has announced a four-barrel limited Kentucky bourbon named Trespasser's Proof. Its base spirit comes from Green River Distilling, is matured for at least four years, and is then transferred to a secure section of the Grand Ole Opry for a further period. The final stage involves wood species associated with the historic Ryman stage. The bottling is planned for early 2027 at a reported US suggested price of $100, with final proof not yet set.

The more immediate development is experiential. ROW 94's first downtown Nashville tasting room is scheduled to open to the public this Thursday, 5 November, from 4pm local time at the Bode Hotel. The company also advertises a Music Whiskey Trail guided experience beginning Saturday 7 November, listed at $169 per person. These are advertised opening dates and prices, not firsthand confirmation that doors opened or tickets remained available.

For a grounded account of the whiskey's Kentucky production origins, see Whisky Clan's Green River Distillery profile.

What to watch next — and explore more

Thursday 5 November: Chattanooga Whiskey's first two Confluence Volume 2 barrels are scheduled to appear at the Experimental Distillery; Nashville's ROW 94 tasting room is scheduled to welcome its first public guests later in the afternoon (local time). Results and stock should be checked directly rather than assumed in advance.

Saturday 7 November: ROW 94's first advertised Nashville Music Whiskey Trail. Glasgow's Whisky Festival also takes place on 7 November, but its two sessions were already shown as sold out in Whisky Clan's separate event preview.

January 2027: Glenfiddich 28 Years Old Aston Martin moves towards its announced US and travel-retail debut; ROW 94's four-barrel bourbon is also planned for early 2027, without an exact day. June 2027: Oxford Artisan's reported reopening target remains subject to delivery.

For market context rather than another supposedly new headline, IWSR's original 29 October analysis showed that 2025 global whisky volume growth was concentrated outside Scotch, US and Japanese whisky. That is older research, not a newly published 5 November study.

Catch up on yesterday's Macallan, Penelope and Torabhaig edition or read the latest Sunday weekly roundup to see where these developments fit. The earlier Glenfiddich collaboration has a separate 26 October report and should not be mistaken for today's 28-year-old.
