Meikle Tòir Turbo Ballot Nears Deadline as Indian and Irish Whiskies Reach New Markets

WHISKY CLAN GLOBAL NEWS | Tuesday 3 November 2026 | Reporting cutoff about 08:30 GMT | By the Whisky Clan editorial team

A 5 November Speyside launch now has a 4 November ballot deadline, Indian single malt producers have put two permanent whiskies into the market, and an Irish favourite is being made available to more US buyers. Across the Atlantic, Kentucky's Copper & Kings has opened a new Texas route for its unusual brandy-finished bourbon.

The following four stories are grounded in announcements or published reports dated 2–3 November. Dates on which sales, ballots and distribution begin are stated separately. Whisky Clan checked the 1 November roundup and the 2 November daily edition to avoid repeating their headlines.

In today's edition

Meikle Tòir's 71 ppm Turbo: ballot closes on Wednesday

Original announcement: Monday 2 November 2026. Ballot: 10:00 GMT Monday 2 November to 19:00 GMT Wednesday 4 November. In-person and specialist retail release: Thursday 5 November 2026.

The GlenAllachie's peated Meikle Tòir label is preparing the fourth annual Turbo release, a five-year-old Speyside single malt quoted at 71 ppm of peat phenols. The 2026 bottling is 50% ABV and draws on American virgin oak, Oloroso sherry and Pedro Ximénez sherry casks. It is a noteworthy contrast to the more familiar, gentler Speyside profile, rather than another revival of the island-smoke stereotype.

For buyers, the important news is the deadline rather than merely the launch photograph. A limited online ballot allocation opened yesterday and closes at 7 pm GMT on 4 November; a distillery release is set for 10 am on 5 November, followed by selected international retailers. The brand has given an RRP of £62.99. The number of bottles available was not verified, so we have not guessed an allocation or implied that an entry secures a purchase.

Master distiller Billy Walker's team concentrates on a high-phenol cut of spirit, against a 160-hour fermentation regime. The published flavour profile moves from sweet smoke and warm honey towards candied nuts, citrus and dark-fruit notes. Those are producer tasting notes, not an independent Whisky Clan review.

India: Gamber Valley makes Pravah: and Tapah: permanent

Reporting timeline: Industry coverage dated Monday 2 November; producer press release distributed Tuesday 3 November 2026. Selected-state availability is stated for November; the two expressions are not necessarily on every shelf today.

Alcobrew Distilleries India Limited is expanding its Gamber Valley line with a contrasting pair of single malts from its Solan distillery in Himachal Pradesh. Pravah: is unpeated; Tapah: adds a measured peated component. Both use Indian malted barley, ex-bourbon maturation and a 46% ABV bottling strength, making the point of difference the spirit's smoky character rather than a dramatic change in cask type.

The producer lists 750 ml bottles across selected markets in Delhi, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra and Himachal Pradesh. The price is not uniform across India: Pravah: carries an announced ₹3,600–₹5,500 range, while Tapah: is ₹4,300–₹7,500, with local duties and taxes shaping the final shelf price. National availability was not confirmed.

This is a commercial milestone for a younger brand that debuted with small-batch releases earlier in 2026. Alcobrew says production meets Indian Malt Whisky Association standards, including a minimum three years in oak. That is a producer statement about the process, rather than evidence that every bottle was independently laboratory tested by Whisky Clan.

Midleton Very Rare's 2026 Vintage gets a US push

US announcement: Monday 2 November 2026. The 2026 Vintage had already been introduced through Midleton's own channels earlier in the year; this is the American availability update, not the first global unveiling.

Ireland's Midleton Very Rare is extending availability of its 2026 Vintage Release in the United States at a suggested retail price of $240, according to a 2 November announcement issued for the brand. The 40% ABV whiskey contains five selected distillate styles: three single pot still components and two single grain components. It is the sixth Vintage assembled under master distiller Kevin O'Gorman.

The blend deliberately adjusts the balance rather than changing identity outright. Older ex-bourbon-matured grain whiskey contributes sweetness and texture, while the new mix places a little more weight on lighter pot still elements to underline citrus and floral notes. The release announcement mentions butterscotch, rose petal, geranium and orange peel among its sensory markers; these are supplied notes, not a blind tasting.

The 2024 and 2025 vintages also remain listed in US channels, although stock differs by retailer. That makes it more useful to compare prices, vintages and provenance than to treat this as an exclusive new-to-the-world launch. The photograph below shows an older historical collection at Old Midleton Distillery, not a packshot of the 2026 product.

Copper & Kings takes brandy-finished bourbon into Texas

News report: Monday 2 November 2026. Texas distribution began on Sunday 1 November, a separate effective date.

Copper & Kings, a Louisville distillery better known for its American brandy, has added Texas to its distribution map through Johnson Brothers Maverick. The significant whiskey item is its Straight Bourbon Whiskey: a blend containing straight bourbons aged from five to more than 15 years, subsequently finished for as long as three years in the company's own brandy barrels.

The brand reports a $29.99 US suggested retail price for the bourbon, with two brandies also joining the Texas portfolio: Six-Year American Brandy V.S.O.P. at 86 proof and $19.99, plus Six-Year American Apple Brandy Bottled-in-Bond at $24.99. The whiskey bottling strength was not provided in the verified announcement, so it is intentionally omitted here.

This is not a new recipe announcement; it is a route-to-market update. For Texas retailers and bars, the more interesting question is whether customers will take to brandy-influenced wood finishing in a category dominated by conventional bourbon. Availability is through the state's new distributor, with individual retailer stock not independently checked.

What to watch this week

Wednesday 4 November, 19:00 GMT: the announced Meikle Tòir Turbo ballot closes. Thursday 5 November, 10:00 GMT: the distillery's stated Turbo release begins. The ballot and the launch are separate events; both dates originate in the 2 November reports, not a new announcement on the relevant day.

A wider Scotch-industry development also needs careful dating. Diageo confirmed on Friday 30 October that it would pause its 2026 annual Special Releases collection. That decision was reported then, so we are not relabelling it as breaking news today; collectors should watch for any formal indication of the series' future rather than assume a 2027 edition.

The UK–India bulk Scotch tariff discussions and MGP's Sempreon corporate change were covered in yesterday's edition. No outcome is asserted here because today's edition has not independently verified a new official decision.
