GLOBAL WHISKY & SPIRITS NEWS | Monday 26 October 2026 | Editorial cutoff: 26 October 2026, 09:00 GMT | Whisky Clan editorial

Two whisky releases reach their announced sale dates today: a Glenfiddich collaboration in Japan and an Austin-only Halloween whiskey in Texas. Elsewhere, a German single-cask pair begins shipping, Ardnamurchan invites drinkers to compare bourbon and sherry maturation, and Belgian Owl's distillery asset sale approaches. Ahead of the weekend, Glen Scotia has a Halloween tasting programme near Loch Lomond.

Editorial note: This edition combines genuine 26 October launch dates with earlier announcements that remain relevant this week. We distinguish an announcement date from the date bottles ship, tastings take place or auction bidding opens; none of the earlier stories is presented as having first broken this morning.

Today's launches: Japan, the United States and Germany

Glenfiddich 16 Year Old Aston Martin edition reaches Japan

Today, 26 October, is the announced limited Japanese release date for Glenfiddich 16 Year Old Aston Martin Design 2026. Brown-Forman Japan disclosed the date in a company announcement on 2 October. The second year of the Glenfiddich–Aston Martin Formula One partnership pairs single malt with motorsport design; the producer describes a 16-year-old created using five cask types. This is a Japanese market release rather than a claim that the same bottle launches globally today.

Still Austin Monster Mash goes on sale today, with local pickup only

Still Austin's 2026 Monster Mash, a Halloween-themed Distillery Reserve whiskey, is scheduled for online sale on Monday 26 October at 1pm US Central time. A specialist release tracker lists the price at $125 before tax, one bottle per person, 116.5 US proof (58.25% ABV), and in-person collection from the Austin distillery starting 31 October. This is not a conventional UK or international online release; the retailer's rules say the bottles will not be shipped. Availability is not guaranteed and details may change when the sale opens.

St. Kilian's Lucky and Punch single casks begin shipping

Germany's St. Kilian Distillers enters the week's release calendar through Lucky and Punch, a two-bottle collaboration with comedian Michael Mittermeier and his Lucky Punch club. The specialist seller Spiritory opened orders earlier in October, held its Munich unveiling on 23 October and lists 26 October as the dispatch start. Both are 500ml single casks with 500 bottles of each: Lucky comes from a Moscatel de Setúbal cask, while heavily peated Punch comes from a Tawny port cask. They are not new announcements today, but today's dispatch date is a practical milestone for buyers.

Recently announced single malts worth comparing

Ardnamurchan sets bourbon against sherry in its 2026 Heritage Barley pair

Ardnamurchan Distillery exterior in Glenbeg, photographed by Alpin Stewart in 2017; historic distillery photograph, not the 2026 bottles.

The Highland distillery's autumn Heritage Barley programme takes the same Golden Promise malt spirit and matures separate editions entirely in ex-bourbon or ex-sherry wood. Ardnamurchan lists the bourbon bottling at 58.6% ABV and its Oloroso/Pedro Ximénez sherry counterpart at 58.4%. That makes for a controlled tasting comparison of maturation influence rather than a simple contrast between two barley recipes.

The distillery has also announced a second annual 10 Year Old, bottled at 46.8% ABV, built primarily around bourbon-matured vintages from 2014 to 2016 with a near-even peated and unpeated split. The distillery's account of lower Golden Promise yields offers useful context: heritage varieties may be interesting for texture and flavour without necessarily being economical to grow or distil. These are autumn announcements, not products said to have launched this morning.

Aberfeldy offers 276 bottles of a 27-year-old Madeira finish

Aberfeldy unveiled its 27 Year Old Madeira Double Cask Finish on 20 October as part of the Exceptional Cask Series. According to its release statement, the single malt spent almost 21 years in ex-bourbon wood followed by six years in Madeira casks. Just 276 bottles are offered at 55.4% ABV and a £600 recommended price, exclusively via Dewar's Aberfeldy Distillery and its online shop. The finish is particularly unusual for its length; this is a maturation experiment as much as a luxury limited bottling.

The long-aged release adds context to the distillery's honeyed Highland house style, explained in our Aberfeldy Distillery history and visitor guide

Industry and auctions: Belgian Owl's asset sale approaches

Belgian Owl equipment and whisky auctions open on 29 October

The liquidation of Belgian Owl is moving into a critical phase: bidding for production equipment and bottled whisky is scheduled to open on Thursday 29 October. Sale notices describe roughly 20,600 bottles across almost 3,000 lots, with distilling equipment including historic copper stills formerly associated with Caperdonich in Scotland. The equipment auction is due to close from 12 November. More than 3,500 whisky casks are also expected to be offered separately, but their sale arrangements were still being prepared in the published announcement.

This is not a report of the auction's outcome. The date-sensitive story is the imminent opportunity for bidders and what asset disposal may mean for a formerly ambitious European single malt producer. Anyone interested should check the auctioneer's published conditions, excise liabilities and collection requirements independently.

Tastings this weekend: Campbeltown folklore by Loch Lomond

Glen Scotia plans two Halloween programmes at Luss on 31 October and 1 November

Glen Scotia will bring its Icons of Campbeltown single malts and local folklore to Luss Distillery near Loch Lomond over Halloween weekend. The published programme includes a 45-minute, four-dram Icons tasting for £19 and a 30-minute, three-dram introduction to Glen Scotia's core range for £15. The events run on Saturday 31 October and Sunday 1 November, with session times varying by day and places subject to advance booking.

The theme draws on creatures depicted on Campbeltown's medieval market-cross carvings, including the Dragon, Wulver and Griffin. It is an accessible way to sample a Campbeltown producer without travelling to the Kintyre peninsula. Find its history and whisky range in our Glen Scotia Distillery guide

What to watch next

The near-term diary is unusually busy: the Still Austin online allocation and Glenfiddich Japanese limited release are dated today; Belgian Owl's equipment and bottle auction begins on Thursday 29 October; Glen Scotia's Luss tastings run on 31 October and 1 November. Availability, session capacity and shipping rules can change quickly. Whisky Clan will report outcomes when supported by reliable updates rather than extrapolating from promotional announcements.
