Winchester Distillery: Winchester, Hampshire
Winchester Distillery is an independent craft spirits producer based in Winchester, Hampshire, England. It is best known for Twisted Nose Gin and also makes rum, an agave spirit and a single cask malt whisky.
Where it is
The distillery was founded in central Winchester, the historic cathedral city in Hampshire, in the south of England.
The story so far
According to The Spirits Business, Winchester Distillery was founded in 2014 by Paul Bowler and grew into one of Hampshire's best-known independent spirits producers.
The portfolio includes Twisted Nose Gin, which is made with locally sourced watercress, white and golden rums, a British agave spirit called Verdevida and a single cask malt whisky.
A change of model in 2026
In June 2026 The Spirits Business reported that Winchester Distillery was selling its production equipment through an online auction run by BPI Auctions. The company described this as a move to a more flexible, asset-light model, with manufacturing outsourced to specialist production partners.
The sale covered a 2020 iStill 500 NextGen still and infuser unit, a Still Dragon hybrid still and a 2020 Speidel Braumeister 500L mash tank, plus storage vessels and other equipment. Winchester Distillery says it keeps ownership of its brands, recipes, trademarks and customer relationships.
