Compass Box Ends Hedonism's Annual Run as Aberlour and Elijah Craig Expand
WHISKY CLAN GLOBAL NEWS | Friday 6 November 2026 | Reporting cutoff: approximately 08:55 GMT | Whisky Clan editorial
Compass Box is drawing a line under one of its most distinctive Scotch series, Speyside's Aberlour is widening its American range, and Kentucky's barrel-proof market has two fresh Elijah Craig batches to consider. We also track a new nine-year bourbon, a California distillery's visitor plans and a live trade fair in Hong Kong.
Our timing rule: announcement dates are not automatically retail dates. The Hedonism bottle appeared in February, the Hong Kong fair is happening 5–7 November, and Elijah Craig's exact shop arrival depends on national distribution. All six stories have source links, dated reporting and separately described availability.

Compass Box confirms Hedonism 2026 is the final annual edition
Official announcement: Thursday 5 November 2026 | Original bottle release: February 2026 | Scotland / UK
Compass Box has confirmed that Hedonism 2026 closes the annual releases of its blended grain Scotch. The company announced the decision on Thursday, not a new Friday bottling. This year's whisky had already launched in February and will now serve as the series' final edition; limited bottles remain with selected retailers.
The numbers give the farewell some substance: Compass Box lists 13,218 bottles, 46% ABV, natural colour and no chill-filtration, with Angela D'Orazio as lead whiskymaker. It has not given a new Friday release price in this announcement, so a current retail price is deliberately omitted.

Why it matters: grain whisky has often been overshadowed by single malt. Hedonism helped treat carefully blended grain whisky as a serious premium category, so ending the annual programme is a meaningful change for collectors and bartenders. Compass Box says the rest of its whisky range, including Orchard House, continues.

Aberlour 14 lands in the US as 21 Year Old availability expands
Official US announcement: Thursday 5 November 2026 | US availability: announced as current; no universal on-shelf date | Scotland / United States
Aberlour has formally announced the American release of its 14 Year Old Double Cask, a 40% ABV, 700ml Speyside single malt aged in Oloroso sherry and first-fill American oak casks. The suggested US price is $79.99. The press release also confirms that the 21 Year Old, previously launched globally, is now on sale in the US; it is bottled at 48% ABV and offered as an annually released small batch.
Alongside the whisky comes a limited holiday gift package called The Fourteen Pack, pairing Aberlour 14 with a Filson Dryden Briefcase. Its US price is $200 and the company says the pack is exclusive to ReserveBar. These are American launch prices, not UK list prices, and stock is retailer-dependent.
The release gives American buyers two different propositions: a comparatively accessible fruit-and-sherry-led double-cask 14-year-old and an older, stronger 21-year-old for collectors. The 21 is not a new worldwide launch this week: Aberlour introduced its 21- and 25-year-old permanent expressions in September 2026.

Elijah Craig has two 124.4-proof barrel-strength whiskeys due in November
Reported: Friday 6 November 2026 by Food & Wine | Scheduled national distribution: November 2026 | Kentucky, United States
Heaven Hill's Elijah Craig brand is bringing out two uncut, non-chill-filtered batches at the same 124.4 US proof, equivalent to 62.2% ABV. Barrel Proof Bourbon H-40 carries a minimum age of 12 years and eight months; Barrel Proof Rye H-04 has spent at least ten years in oak. Both have a suggested American retail price of $75.
The H codes mark a change in release management. The letter refers to August, when the batches were finalised; 40 identifies the fortieth bourbon release in its series and 04 the fourth barrel-proof rye. The producer is moving away from a fixed three-times-a-year bourbon calendar towards release timing based on the maturity of the whiskey.

The published specifications distinguish the liquid. Bourbon H-40 uses 78% corn, 10% rye and 12% malted barley; rye H-04 uses 51% rye, 35% corn and 14% malted barley. That means the price and bottling strength are shared, but the grain recipes and ages are not. Nationwide November distribution is not a claim that every shop has stock today.

Larrikin Foxtrot turns nine-year bourbon into a cask-strength single barrel
Reported: Thursday 5 November 2026 | Availability: distillery, selected Kentucky retailers and private selections | Kentucky, United States
Lawrenceburg producer Larrikin has introduced its Foxtrot Series, consisting of nine-year-old, single-barrel bourbon bottled at cask strength. The company says Foxtrot follows its Echo Series, moving the single-barrel concept into a higher-strength presentation. Its stated suggested retail price is $110.
The announcement does not establish one fixed Foxtrot ABV, bottle count or universal shelf date; single-barrel cask strengths will vary. It does describe a route through the distillery, selected Kentucky shops and private selections across the US. Buyers should verify the individual barrel and proof on the exact bottle offered.
Founded by Australian-raised distiller Greg Keeley and Katie Keeley, Larrikin draws from Kentucky bourbon methods while building an independent regional identity. This release is interesting for the contrast between an established nine-year maturation period and the barrel-by-barrel variations left visible at cask strength.
Redwood Empire puts distillery visits and its whiskey club in focus
Reported: Thursday 5 November 2026 | Effective date of appointment: not separately given | California, United States
Redwood Empire Whiskey has appointed Kristina King as Visitor Experience & Whiskey Club Manager at its Mare Island distillery in California. The new role covers tours, tastings, trade visits, member events and the two-tier whiskey club, putting the producer's direct relationship with visitors and collectors at the centre of its next phase.
King has more than 20 years' relevant direct-to-consumer experience in Northern California wine. Redwood Empire says its 2025 volume exceeded 40,000 cases and its portfolio spans more than 16 expressions, including Pipe Dream Bourbon and Emerald Giant Rye. Those are the company's reported figures, not independently audited sales in this article.
For readers, this is a visitor and brand-development story rather than a new bottle announcement. No new tour prices, guaranteed experiences, launch dates or membership availability are asserted.
Hong Kong's Wine & Spirits Fair brings whisky makers into Asia's trade spotlight
Event dates: Thursday 5 to Saturday 7 November 2026 | Reports from the show: Friday 6 November | Hong Kong
The Hong Kong International Wine & Spirits Fair is taking place at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, with over 620 exhibitors from more than 25 countries and regions, according to organiser HKTDC. Its expanded World of Spirits zone covers the major spirits categories including whisky, with producers from 16 countries and regions.
Trade days run on Thursday and Friday, while Saturday 7 November is the public-facing consumer day. The fair matters to world whisky because it brings Asian buyers and suppliers together, with Australian distillers such as Ironbark Red Whisky and Goodradigbee Distillers featured in reporting from the show.
The 5–7 November dates were advertised in advance; what is new this morning is reporting from the open fair, rather than an unexpected overnight launch. Exhibitor counts are organiser figures, and a presence at the fair does not prove a separate national retail release.
What to watch this weekend and where to explore next
Sunday 8 November, 11:59pm GMT: Aberlour's separate ballot for its 22 Year Old 2004 Vintage closes. The distillery opened registration on Tuesday 3 November, so this is an approaching deadline, not an announcement made on Friday. The single-barrel release is 50.9% ABV, priced at £450 for successful eligible buyers, with regional eligibility limits.
Saturday 7 November: the Hong Kong fair holds its public day. Also on Saturday, Glasgow's Whisky Festival takes place at Hampden Park; Whisky Clan's earlier visitor guide reported that its sessions were already sold out. Check official organisers rather than presuming late tickets are available.
