About
The distillery presents itself as the home of cocktail exploration and modern Irish whiskey. It runs an immersive visitor experience in the former power station.
Visiting
Experiences include the Flavours Experience and Beyond the Blend, plus the Powerhouse Bar. The official site lists the Powerhouse Bar open Sunday to Wednesday 12.30pm to 7pm, Thursday 12pm to 8pm and Friday and Saturday 12pm to 9pm. Check the website for current hours and booking.
The Roe family behind the name
The Roe and Co name comes from George Roe, whose family ran one of the best known distilleries in nineteenth century Dublin. The official story page says the Roe distillery closed its gates in 1926 and that all that remains is the distillery windmill tower and a pear tree that still flowers. Both stand across from the Guinness Brewery at St. James's Gate on the Thomas Street side of the Liberties, and the brand says they inspire the new whiskey.
A new home in the Liberties
The modern Roe and Co is a Diageo brand. The distillery is at 92 James's Street, Dublin 8, in the former Guinness Power Station. Diageo's own footer on the site credits the 2026 copyright to Diageo. A 2026 LegacyDram profile also describes Roe and Co as re-established by Diageo on a Liberties site next to the old Roe family ground.

The wider Dublin picture
Dublin had no working whiskey distillery inside the city after Powers John's Lane closed in 1976, according to LegacyDram. Teeling opened in 2015, and Roe and Co sits alongside it and other Liberties distilleries in the revival. Irish Whiskey Magazine coverage of the first Dublin distilled Roe and Co single malt says the whiskey was sourced from Great Northern Distillery, a detail seen only in a search snippet.
