Founders

Brothers Ryan and Garrett Burchett started the distillery in 2010, according to a RackHouse Whiskey Club profile. Ryan had been a television meteorologist and Garrett worked designing roads in Texas. The distillery says everything is made from grain sourced from farmers within 25 miles.

Place and idea

Le Claire is the birthplace of William Buffalo Bill Cody, born there in 1846, and the Cody Road range is named after him. The distillery says Midwest river towns were once a big source of rye whiskey, with rye replacing felled timber in the sandy soil, and that it set out to recreate that. Its Cody Road Rye is described as handmade from 100 percent rye. Seasonal spirits include Stone Fence Apple Cider Whiskey.

Visiting

The distillery is at 303 North Cody Road, Le Claire, Iowa 52753, and Iowa tourism material describes a visit with a tasting room upstairs.
