History and production

Iowa's first licensed distillery since Prohibition

WhiskyCast says Jeff and Laurie Quint started Cedar Ridge Distillery and Winery as a retirement lark. About 20 years after receiving their distilling licenses, it has grown from a rented garage space next to a liquor store into Iowa's largest distillery. Peated.com describes it as Iowa's first licensed distillery since Prohibition.

  • Founded: 2005 by Jeff and Laurie Quint in Swisher, Iowa

  • Bourbon: described as Iowa's top selling bourbons

  • Single malt: the distillery is winning awards for its American single malts

  • People: master distiller and blender Murphy Quint, their son
