How it is built to work
Whisky Magazine reported in December 2021 that Dunphail planned on site floor maltings, traditional kilning, long fermentations and direct fired stills. The distillery said it aimed to put character and flavour ahead of yield. The build was by the team behind Bimber.
Founders and casks
At the start of construction Dunphail launched a Founders' Club and a private cask programme offering ex-bourbon, Pedro Ximenez and oloroso casks in peated and unpeated styles.

The distillery now takes tour bookings through its own website.

Verified producer details and recent milestones
At Dunphail, the planned distilling approach includes an on-site floor malting and kilning building, with traditional hand-turning of germinating barley. The producer describes an on-site mineral-rich borehole and the occasional use of peat during kilning.
The distillery's Founders Club describes the inaugural and first peated whiskies as expected during 2026, but explicitly warns that these are guidelines and releases may be delayed. Until a producer announcement confirms that a named whisky is released, the Whisky Clan bottle library will not treat the planned bottles as available expressions.
