Destilerias DYC: History, Whisky Range and Visitor Guide
Updated: 2 days ago
DYC, short for Destilerías y Crianza del Whisky, was founded by Spanish entrepreneur Nicomedes García Gómez in 1958 near Segovia. It became an important pioneering producer of Spanish malt and grain whisky rather than an importer simply relabelling Scotch.
The company launched its original DYC in 1963 and DYC 8 in 1974. It now forms part of the Suntory whisky portfolio and operates a working facility in the Eresma valley.

How the whisky is made
Malted barley and grain spirit are produced at the Segovia site and matured in oak under central Spain's high-altitude climate. DYC 8 is a blend of grain and malt whiskies, not a single malt.
DYC 8 contains whisky aged for at least eight years in American oak and is bottled at 40% ABV. Different named DYC editions have separate age statements.
The whisky bottle range
