Ballechin Distillery: Perthshire History and Lost Scotch Whisky Guide
Ballechin was a historic Perthshire malt whisky distillery near Ballinluig. One of the region's old farm distilleries, it operated through the nineteenth century before closing in 1927. The lost distillery should not be confused with Edradour's modern peated Ballechin whisky brand.

History
Ballechin developed as a farm-based whisky distillery in Perthshire during the nineteenth century.
Historic whisky geography records place Ballechin among the old Perthshire distilleries that once operated along the Tay and its tributaries.
The distillery closed in 1927 and the physical production site was later demolished. The Ballechin name was subsequently reused by Edradour for a modern peated whisky, which is a separate product identity.
Production
Historic Highland malt Scotch whisky produced in pot stills.
Farm-distillery scale rather than a modern industrial plant.
No production continues at the original site.
