History
The distillery was built in 2013 on the Arbikie Highland Estate. There are earlier records of whisky production on the estate that date to 1794.
In 2014 it produced what is described as Scotland's first commercial potato vodka, using Maris Piper, King Edwards and Cultra potatoes.
In 2020 it released a Highland rye whisky, described on release as the first commercial rye whisky produced in Scotland for more than 100 years.
In August 2021 it agreed a distribution deal with EcoSpirits to cut packaging emissions. In December 2021 it was granted 3 million pounds through the Green Distilleries Competition for a hydrogen power plant.
Production
Barley and potatoes come from the estate farm. Pot and column stills from CARL of Germany let the distillery make whisky, gin and vodka on one site.

From the official site
The Arbikie shop banner on 20 October 2026 announces its first 10 year old single malt whisky as now available. The site describes Arbikie as independent and family owned, a B Corp since 2025, and says it makes what it calls the world's first climate positive gin and vodka. It also shows a 2026 Travellers Choice award from TripAdvisor and online booking for visits.
Ownership
Family ownership is stated on the official site, which settles the owner question for this draft. The individual family members and the stills were not read in this pass.
