Het Anker Brewery and Distillery: Mechelen, Antwerp Province

Het Anker is a brewery and distillery in Mechelen, in the Belgian province of Antwerp. Besides brewing beer, it distils the Gouden Carolus whisky.

Brewery, distillery and visits

Whisky Monkeys (16 July 2025, a piece produced in partnership with Het Anker) reports that the site is open for guided tours every day. A guide takes visitors through both the brewery and the distillery, following the route from the mash of the Gouden Carolus beers to the distillation of the Gouden Carolus Single Malt. Visitors can taste the single malt among the stills and finish with a tasting of two Gouden Carolus beers.

Booking through the Het Anker ticket shop is recommended. A distillery shop sells Gouden Carolus beers and several editions of the single malt, including exclusive bottles and gift packs.

Hotel and brasserie

The same article says Het Anker also runs a hotel and a brasserie. The hotel is in a building that was once part of the Mechelen beguinage.
